I had the wonderful privilege to be at the graduation for the North Georgia Tech Grads last Tuesday night at The Torch and boy did they have some wonderful speakers. I went just because my hubby was helping out with the media not to really get anything out of it. To my sudden surprise Pastor Mike Franklin spoke. A lot of things made so much sense.
He talked about how people can move from Ordinary to Extraordinary. The light bulb in my head went off and I was like, "WHAT". I started to think that is a great topic, and as I began to listen I realized it would change the lives of the graduates (if it had not already done so) and what they had been through, but me also.
There were five different challenges he spoke on to become Ordinary to Extraordinary. First, it takes time. Time, that figures. LOL. Everything takes time as we all know, and at the end its worth it, but the wiating is hard. We have to work to get through each step in life weather it be in school, relationships, job etc. It takes time to grow and to become what we intend for oursleves to be, but most importantly what God wants us to be. Second, It takes planning. Now this is part of my personality that is not hard for me, but for some it might. When my plans are changed or messed up then that is when I get in trouble. That is when we have to rely on God, becasue he always has the best plans for us. We can plan to study and prepare, but God always has preperations ahead of time. Third, is change. We learn as we change. When you are in school you are filled with a lot of knowledge, that is if you actually listen, obviously. That knowledge can change who you are and who you can become. It just depends on how we use it, and if we use it for the right reasons. Change means so many things. It can be mentally, emotionally, spiritually and so much more. We choose the changes we make.
Fourth is help. We cant get through it without the help of others weather it be the help of peers, teachers, parents etc. We have to have help in this life, and thank God for it. Lastly, we have to have effort. We have to show effort each day. Effort can take us places we have never been, and really this can change your whole outlook on everything else. We have to make the effort to spend time, plan, change ourselves and get help from others. It all coinsides together. Neat uh.
The sentence that hit me the most was something that the Commissioner said. I think his name was Micheal Thurmond. He said, "With Faith and Hard work all things are possible", and that is so true. I have seen this manifest in my live so much. We cant let everything happening around us make the choices that we make. We have to be inactive and not reactive. The Lord has a different outlook than we have (most of the time), but we have to learn to have confidence in him to bring us through no matter what our struggle is. All of our accomplishments he helps us make in the first place.
So today I am going to do all this things. I am not going to be a comotion (meaning being negative) but to have a good motion in being a women of integrity and let God do the rest. After all, he gives us the time, he knows our plans, he wants us to change for the better, he wants to help us in all things, and he has already given the effort to take away our sins. Now, since he has already done this, should we not already be extradinary to him.
Love you guys. Kelly
